Common Grain Leather started with a simple idea and a piece of cardboard cut from a tea box.
I wanted a leather cord holder that was both practical and beautiful, but couldn’t quite find what I was looking for. So, I decided to make my own. With that little cardboard template, a few pieces of leather, and some experimentation, the first cord holders came to life.
When I shared them on Facebook, I discovered that other people loved them, too. What began as something I made for myself slowly grew into something much bigger.
Since then, every piece I’ve created has started the same way: with a need.
A wallet inspired by a style I loved. A small leather pouch designed to carry my rosary. Notebook covers born from a conversation with a friend. A passport cover created because I couldn’t find one that felt quite right.
Some ideas come from my own everyday life, while others come from conversations and the people around me. But the thought behind them is always the same: creating something useful, thoughtfully designed, and made to be carried.
Today, Common Grain Leather is a small, independently owned business built around practical designs, beautiful materials, and an appreciation for the character of leather. I love working with reclaimed leather, giving beautiful materials another opportunity to become something useful.
Every piece is made by hand, with the hope that it becomes part of your everyday life, just as the first pieces became part of mine.
Thank you for being part of the story.
The Olive Branch
The olive branch is a symbol of peace, renewal, and new beginnings.
Much of the leather I work with is reclaimed, giving beautiful materials a second opportunity to become something useful. What might otherwise be overlooked or discarded can find new life as something made to be carried, used, and appreciated.
The olive branch is a quiet reminder that something beautiful can come from a new beginning, and that every material has a story worth continuing.
